CAWLS is excited to have Meaghan Lawrie join the team – particularly to focus on the ‘Migration Hub’, a service for migrant women in the Northern Territory, experiencing disadvantage, to receive timely and confidential migration advice (with priority given to women experiencing – or at risk of experiencing – family and domestic violence) 🌏
👩⚖️ Meaghan is a lawyer with a passion for human rights and service to the community. She began her professional career in the immigration and refugee law space, where she worked with Kerdo Legal in Melbourne for 4 years. In that role, her focus was assisting asylum seekers with onshore applications for protection, including appeals to the AAT and FCC. Meaghan also focussed on partner and other family visa applications, including assisting partner visa applicants to access domestic violence provisions.
Meaghan is very excited to join the team at CAWLS, to continue to provide immigration advice and assistance to women, acknowledging the prevalence of domestic violence experienced by migrant and refugee women ⚖️
