A Northern Territory man has been sentenced to five years’ jail, suspended after two and a half years, for attacking a woman with a box cutter-type blade.
Justice Barr noted that statements made by the man after the attack were a ‘deeply disturbing’ attempt to create a false narrative and that the numerous positive character references provided by members of the community were ‘difficult to reconcile’ with the man who committed the crimes described in court.
The woman and her children have now left Australia…
