The Federal Budget has ignored an urgent call for immediate funding for specialist women’s legal services.
Chronically underfunded women’s legal services across Australia came together to collectively call for $25million in immediate funding.
❌ There was no response.
The Central Australian Women’s Legal Service sought just a further $2.2 million dollars to effectively double our service provision, fund visits to remote communities and engage experienced and specialist staff.
Servicing an area of nearly 830,000 km2 (three times larger than Victoria), CAWLS will continue to explore innovative ways to reach the significant number of women needing legal advice and support to respond to family and domestic violence across Central Australia and the Barkly.
