Victorian DV perpetrator receives lesser sentence because of COVID-19

When the Magistrate noted that the charge could be punished with up to five years in prison – the man began to weep in the dock.

“Without a plea of guilty, it would have been four, and if it was not during a pandemic, it would have been considerably longer” Magistrate Saines added.
