CAWLS was thrilled to once again partner with Women’s Services in Central Australia to host ‘Reclaim the Night’ ✨
In a great show of community solidarity, over 150 people gathered on the Alice Springs Town Council Lawns last Friday night, to protest sexual violence against women and children and to celebrate women reclaiming public spaces.
The event was marked by the Alice Springs premiere screening of ‘Power Meri’ – a documentary following the journey of PNG’s first national women’s rugby league team. 🏉 This inspiring story details how these trailblazing women confronted intense sexism, a lack of funding, and national prejudice to perform on the world stage 🤩
👏 A huge thanks to all those who attended, our sponsors and supporters including the Northern Territory Government. A special thanks is extended to Carmel & Jess from the Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group for their leadership in bringing us all together 💪
