Opening of the Legal Year 2024

The CAWLS team took some time out on Friday evening to mark the ‘Opening of the Legal Year’ 🎊

👥 At the event hosted by the Law Society Northern Territory and the Chief Justice of the Northern Territory, our team had the opportunity to reflect on the contributions that legal assistance providers make to the administration of the justice system ⚖️

📖 There are significant law reforms set to take effect in the NT in 2024 – from a rewrite of the Domestic and Family Violence Act through to the introduction of Community Courts.

Our Central Australian Women’s Legal Service team will continue to advocate and work with the sector to ensure that the safety of women and children remains a central focus in the implementation of these significant reforms ✊
