CAWLS extends its thanks to the NT CAHS Remote Midwives and Child Health Nurses for visiting and participating in a bespoke workshop, aimed at strengthening responses to high-risk Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) cases.
Over an intensive 2.5-hour session, CAWLS and the CAHS team explored
DFSV Fundamentals in Central Australia & the Barkly Region
Roles & Responsibilities of Health Services
High-risk Indicators & Indicative Screening
Responding to disclosures
Trauma-informed approaches to mandatory reporting obligations.
It was privilege to work with, and learn from, Central Australia’s remote midwives and child nurses, who generously shared their experiences – and the experiences of their patients – as well as their commitment and enthusiasm for continuing to enhance safety in a challenge service provision environment.
If you work in frontline health and are interested in strengthening your response to DFSV, contact the CAWLS Education Team (education@cawls.com.au) for details on customised workshops and training opportunities.
CAWLS acknowledges and thanks the Northern Territory PHN for their support in engaging primary care providers across Central Australia & the Barkly region
