Last week, Sophie Quinn, one of Central Australian Women’s Legal Service Inc.’s Health Justice Partnership Lawyers, delivered a presentation at the ‘National Indigenous Youth Empowerment Summit’ in Cairns 🗣
Sophie spoke about the child protection landscape in Central Australia, including complex issues relating to the accessibility of legal services, domestic violence and mandatory reporting. Her presentation emphasised the importance of collaborating with other Aboriginal community controlled services and health organisations to adopt a more culturally appropriate, trauma informed and holistic approach to child protection and early intervention. Sophie was then invited to join a panel discussion on adopting a national child protection legislative framework.
The event brought together industry innovators, leaders and front-line workers to collaborate on strategies towards empowering Indigenous young people, the leaders of tomorrow…. & we couldn’t be more proud of the way Sophie represented CAWLS on a national platform! 👏
