Today, our CAWLS Mparntwe (Alice Springs) Office started the morning as part of the NAIDOC Week March down Todd Street π§βπ€βπ§
Despite the extremely cold temperatures this week, it was inspiring to see so many friendly faces and organisations turn up in support of NAIDOC week β The March was led by North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency, (in celebration of their 50 year anniversary), Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and Yipirinya School. The march ended on the Alice Springs Town Council lawns, where there was a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome to Country, raising of the flag and stalls from a range of Indigenous organisations across town.
π’ The theme for NAIDOC 2022 is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! (Akeme-Irreme! Tneme! Imerneme!)
We must all continue to Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! for systematic change, and celebrate and champion those that have walked, so that others may run β
CAWLS Mparntwe Office acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of this beautiful Arrernte country. We are privileged to call this country home and are grateful for the opportunity to listen and learn how we can support all ATSI identifying people π
