▪️ 40% of Territorians are renters – which is the highest in the country. The Territory also has the highest weekly housing costs.
▪️ 75% of homelessness in women is related to family and domestic violence … seeing 54,000 women homeless across Australia.
▪️ 34% of single women live in permanent income poverty and are more likely to live in unaffordable private rentals

How can we continue to let this be the norm in our community?! These are devastating facts … 😞

📣 This week, we recognize ‘National Homelessness Week’. CAWLS supports women experiencing homelessness and continues to advocate for better outcomes for all women in Central Australia ✊

CAWLS acknowledges that women experiencing Domestic Violence are at higher risk of experiencing homelessness.

More than 116,000 people who were assisted by specialist homelessness services in 2020-2021 had experienced domestic or family violence.

✅ Educating the community and service providers to recognise and respond to Domestic Violence to prevent further homelessness
