📍 CAWLS lawyers from our Alice Springs office recently returned from the 2024 ‘Enhancing Safe Practice : A National Justice Forum on Sexual Assault’ in Sydney ⚖️
🗣️ This important event, hosted by the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration, explored how the legal system can better support vulnerable individuals, particularly in sexual assault matters.
Over the course of the forum, our team connected with experts from across Australia and New Zealand, delving into topics like the neurobiological effects of trauma, the unique challenges faced by overrepresented groups in sexual violence, and strategies for managing vicarious trauma.
A highlight of the conference was the session presented by Northern Territory colleagues at the Aboriginal Interpreter Service, who provided invaluable insights into working effectively with interpreters 👥
