DV inquest begins

⚖️ On Monday, the NT Coroner started another inquest into the killing of a woman in the Territory.

The NT News reported that the inquest heard that the “young woman was condemned to a life of “ongoing torture” by the man she loved and the systems meant to protect her”.

📰 The Coroner heard that the woman endured violence from the age of 14 when she attended at a medical clinic for treatment – clinic records stated the attendance was for assistance after her boyfriend had hit her with a stick.

It was further reported that the inquest would investigate behavioural change services that were available to men in prison and the services that were responsible for supervision of men after their release from prison.
