CSW68 underway for 2024

📍 The 68th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was formally opened on Monday in New York.

CAWLS was on site in the General Assembly, representing Community Legal Centres Australia, along with a broad range of civil society delegates from Australia and across the world 🇦🇺

🗣️ The Secretary-General started his remarks by specifically acknowledging that progress on women’s rights has overwhelmingly come from civil society and women’s rights organisations, and that progress benefits all our communities and societies ✊ He then called for urgent action to defend women’s rights amidst disturbing trends occurring across the world.

🤝 The opening kicked off a very busy week of sharing information, ideas with other CSO’s and formal delegations.
