CAWLS is delivering a Community Justice Partnership pilot program to June 2028 in 8 remote communities across Central Australia. The program aims to support women with unmet legal needs to help them stay safe and well in their community. Our program can offer;

  • free full spectrum legal outreach (civil and criminal) for women including financial counselling, housing, child protection and domestic and family violence support.
  • duty lawyers at circuit court.
  • community engagement and development including primary prevention of domestic and family violence, and legal education on a range of topics including housing rights, money and financial literacy, legal rights and police powers, and child protection.
  • free tailored professional development for local staff to skill up on identifying and responding to family violence and child protection issues, including mandatory reporting and safety planning.

Our program covers the following communities:

  • Kintore
  • Ti Tree
  • Laramba
  • Yuendumu
  • Papunya
  • Mutijulu
  • Imanpa
  • Finke
