CAWLS is currently seeking applications for the following position.

Solicitor – Tennant Creek

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a full time solicitor based in Tennant Creek. CAWLS receives funding under the Womens Safety Package to operate a Domestic Violence Unit in Tennant Creek assisting women who experience or are at risk of experiencing Domestic and Family violence.

This position is well suited to a practitioner with experience in domestic and family violence issues, family law, child protection and other relevant practise areas.

The applicant will need to demonstrate an understanding of the cultural, social and economic issues facing women in the Northern Territory, particularly Central Australia and the Barkly regions.

CAWLS offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a dynamic environment, with flexible conditions and generous leave provisions. An attractive remuneration package is offered including a competitive salary (based on experience), salary sacrifice, relocation & accommodation assistance and use of a company vehicle when travelling remotely.

Trauma Counsellor

An opportunity exists in Alice Springs for a Specialist Trauma Counsellor to join the CAWLS team. This is a great opportunity to make a real impact alongside a dedicated, skilled and supportive team.

Part-time and Fulltime employment options will be considered.

CAWLS is a community legal centre that helps women in the Central Australia and Barkly regions with their legal matters and provides specialised support and wrap-around services for those affected by domestic violence.

The Trauma Counsellor will work in consultation with the Management Team to provide a scheduled counselling service at CAWLS providing culturally appropriate, accessible domestic and family violence counselling, crisis intervention and support services specific to the needs of women and their children.

This position requires an organised and self-motivated person who is able to communicate effectively with vulnerable people from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds.
